This moss is New Zealand sphagnum, primarily Sphagnum cristatum and Sphagnum subnitens, harvested from swamps on the west coast of New Zealand’s South Island. After harvesting, it is air-dried (to preserve water retention qualities) and cleaned thoroughly to remove debris, resulting in a ready-to-use, clean, natural substrate.

• Use gloves when handling to reduce dust inhalation or irritation.
• Rinse your hands if contact with your eyes occurs.
• Avoid ingesting. This is not food-grade material.
• Store in a cool, dry place to prevent mold growth before use.
• Dispose of used moss responsibly; do not flush it into drains.

• Unwrap the compressed brick and slowly add water to allow it to expand fully.
• Gently break apart hydrated moss and fluff lightly before placing it into the enclosure.
• Spread a layer over the floor or hide areas to create “wet zones” and “dry zones.”
• Mist periodically to maintain humidity, rehydrating as needed.
• When replacing, reuse portions if still clean and intact; remove soiled sections diligently.
