- Rinse only with aquarium water to avoid damaging the sponge and its bacterial colonies.
- During the initial 30 days, monitor ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels as the aquarium cycles.
- Do not use detergents, bleach, or other chemicals to clean the sponge filter.
- Replace the sponge every 6 months to maintain filtration efficiency and prevent clogging.
- Ensure the air pump is appropriate for the aquarium size and does not create excessive current for sensitive fish.

- Before installation, soak the sponge in aquarium water for at least 5 minutes.
- Attach the filter to an air pump .
- Submerge the sponge in aquarium water and gently squeeze to remove trapped air from the pores.
- Place the filter in the aquarium; it will provide both mechanical and biological filtration.
- Allow 30 days for the filter to reach peak performance as beneficial bacteria colonize.
- Clean the sponge by rinsing in aquarium water only—do not use tap or hot water.
- Replace the sponge every 6 months for optimal performance.
